COVID-19 – Prince Rupert facility COVID-19 outbreaks - Update

Northern Health continues to closely monitor two declared outbreaks of COVID-19 at health care facilities in Prince Rupert.

The following are the case counts, to date, for both facilities:

Prince Rupert Regional Hospital – Patient Care Unit

  • To date, there have been three lab confirmed cases among inpatients, and one lab-confirmed case in a staff member, associated with the outbreak that was declared March 28, 2021
  • All of the confirmed cases are now considered recovered

Acropolis Manor

COVID-19 – Outbreak declared at Dawson Creek & District Hospital – Medical Inpatient Unit

Northern Health Medical Health Officers have declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the Medical Inpatient Unit at Dawson Creek & District Hospital (DCDH), following lab-confirmed case(s) among patients on the unit. At the time of the outbreak declaration, testing has identified two inpatients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Monitoring and testing is underway to identify any additional cases.

Northern Health continues to closely monitor two declared outbreaks of COVID-19 at health care facilities in Prince Rupert.

Enhanced outbreak control measures remain in place at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, on the Patient Care Unit. To date, there have been three lab-confirmed cases among patients, and one staff case, in association with the outbreak declared by Medical Health Officers on March 28, 2021.

COVID-19 – Acropolis Manor, Prince Rupert – outbreak declared

Northern Health is implementing enhanced COVID-19 precautions at Acropolis Manor in Prince Rupert, following lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 among residents.

NH Medical Health Officers have declared an outbreak for the West Pod at Acropolis Manor. At the time of the outbreak declaration, two residents have tested positive for COVID-19. Communication with Acropolis Manor staff, residents, and families is ongoing.

COVID-19 – Outbreak declared at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital – Patient Care Unit

Northern Health Medical Health Officers have declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the Patient Care Unit at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital (PRRH), following lab-confirmed cases among patients on the unit. At the time of the outbreak declaration, testing has identified *three patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Monitoring and testing is underway to identify any additional cases.

Northern Health COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution – additional community wide 18+ immunizations planned

Northern Health (NH) continues to adjust COVID-19 vaccine appointment eligibilities and clinic dates, as BC’s COVID-19 Immunization Plan moves forward ahead of schedule.

The age-based vaccine rollout using the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines is accelerating across the province. As of noon today, Northern residents born in 1947 or earlier (74+), and Indigenous peoples 55+ can call to book their vaccine appointment. Once you’re eligible, you are always eligible.

COVID-19 outbreak declared over at Pretium Resources Brucejack Mine – Northwest BC

Northern Health is pleased to announce that Medical Health Officers have declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak, originally declared on February 10, 2020, at the Pretium Resources Brucejack Mine north of Stewart, BC.

In total, there were 51 laboratory-confirmed cases associated with the outbreak. The have not been any new cases since February 21.
