COVID-19 outbreak at LNG Canada Project site – Diversified Transportation – Kitimat – Update #2

Northern Health Public Health continues to monitor a COVID-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada Project Site in Kitimat, BC, among staff of Diversified Transportation working at the project site.

As of December 30, 2020, 16 employees have tested positive for COVID-19 in association with this outbreak (no change since the December 22 update). There are now no active cases (a change from nine).

COVID-19 – Precautionary outbreak declared – University Hospital of Northern BC (IMU) – Prince George

Northern Health is implementing enhanced COVID-19 precautions related to the Internal Medicine Unit (IMU) at University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George, following lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Enhanced outbreak control measures are in place at UHNBC, and at this time, there is no evidence of ongoing transmission of COVID-19 within UHNBC. NH Medical Health Officers have declared a precautionary outbreak related to the Internal Medicine Unit – two patients, and four staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

COVID-19 outbreak declared over at LNG Canada Project site – Kitimat

Northern Health is pleased to announce that Medical Health Officers have declared an end to the COVID-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada Project Site in Kitimat, BC, where JGC Fluor (JFJV) is the prime contractor.

There have been no new cases reported since December 2, 2020, in association with the outbreak that was first declared November 19. In total, 56 employees tested positive for COVID-19; all have recovered, and cases and close contacts have completed their required self-isolation periods.

COVID-19 outbreak over at North Peace Seniors Housing Society apartments – Fort St. John

Northern Health is pleased to advise that a COVID-19 outbreak declared in November at the North Peace Seniors Housing Society apartments in Fort St. John BC, is officially over.

There were a total of 15 lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 associated with the outbreak. A total of six individuals required hospitalization, and one resident associated with the outbreak passed away in November.

COVID-19 outbreak – Coastal Gas Link work sites – Burns Lake, Nechako LHAs - Update

Ongoing monitoring and testing has identified additional COVID-19 cases associated with an outbreak declared by NH Medical Health Officers on December 19, 2020, at two workforce accommodation sites on the Coastal Gas Link (CGL) project.

To date, there have been 33 laboratory confirmed cases associated with the outbreak at 7 Mile Lodge in the Burns Lake Local Health Area (LHA), and Little Rock Lake Lodge in Nechako LHA. Eighteen cases remain active; the majority are in self-isolation in their home communities, and a small number are self-isolating at either Lodge.

Northern Health administers first COVID-19 vaccines in Prince George

The first doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered to a group of high-risk health care workers in Prince George today.

The first person to receive the vaccine in the Northern Health region was Biserka Becker, a care aide at Jubilee Lodge in Prince George. Biserka was vaccinated along with a group of health care workers from University Hospital of Northern BC, and the nearby Jubilee Lodge long-term care facility.
