Ongoing monitoring and testing has identified additional COVID-19 cases associated with an outbreak declared by NH Medical Health Officers on August 16, 2021, among contracted workforces on the Site C hydroelectric dam project in Northeast BC.
To date, there have been 62 lab-confirmed cases in several clusters of COVID-19 activity amongst primarily unvaccinated workers in association with this outbreak; 19 cases are currently considered active.
Enhanced infection control measures remain in place to limit the potential for ongoing transmission. These include but are not limited to:
- Mandatory masking, and physical distancing on the worksites
- Limiting interaction between the project workforce and local communities by reducing worker movement to and from the project site
- Continued focus on ongoing workforce COVID-19 immunizations, including developing plans for requiring workers to have either a COVID-19 vaccination, a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours, or an approved exemption before returning to work
