Northern Health review into recent racism allegations

The Northern Health Board has endorsed a review of the recent allegations of racism in healthcare at its hospitals. These allegations are taken extremely seriously and we believe that the review underway will allow us to understand what occurred from the experience of this family, the staff and physicians.

NH COVID-19 reminder – continued need for COVID caution

Northern Health is urging residents not to let their guard down on COVID-19 prevention, heading into the Family Day weekend, and beyond.

The NH region continues to see a surge in COVID-19 activity, related hospitalizations, and an increase in deaths related to COVID-19. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has recently announced that all current province-wide public health orders are being kept in place, until further notice.

UPDATE - COVID-19 outbreak declared over at Jubilee Lodge in Prince George

Northern Health is pleased to advise that a COVID-19 outbreak declared in mid- December at Jubilee Lodge in Prince George, is officially over. COVID-19 outbreak protocols are being lifted at the facility as the exposure risk period has now passed.

In total, there were a total of 48 confirmed resident cases of COVID-19, and 14 staff cases. Tragically, 17 residents of Jubilee Lodge who had tested positive for COVID-19 have died in association with the outbreak.

COVID-19 Outbreak declared over at University Hospital of Northern BC – Internal Medicine Unit

Northern Health Medical Health Officers have declared an end to a COVID-19 outbreak on the Internal Medicine Unit at the University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) in Prince George.

In total since the outbreak was declared December 29, 2020, twenty-one patient cases and 12 staff cases of COVID-19 were associated with the IMU outbreak, as well as 9 patient deaths. There have been no new lab-confirmed cases related to the outbreak since January 12, 2021.

COVID-19 – Acropolis Manor, Prince Rupert - outbreak continues

Ongoing monitoring and testing of staff and residents at Acropolis Manor in Prince Rupert has identified additional lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19. As of February 9, 2021, 31 residents and 20 staff members at Acropolis Manor have tested positive for COVID-19.

Tragically, 12 Acropolis Manor residents have died since the outbreak began, and Northern Health again offers heartfelt condolences to the family and caregivers of these individuals.

COVID-19 – Outbreak declared at Dawson Creek & District Hospital – Medical Inpatient Unit

Northern Health Medical Health Officers have declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the Medical Inpatient Unit at Dawson Creek & District Hospital (DCDH), following lab-confirmed cases among patients on the unit. At the time of the outbreak declaration, testing has identified nine patients who have tested positive for COVID-19.

Monitoring and testing is underway to identify any additional cases.

Northern Health case and contact management changes - update

The Northern Health region continues to experience relatively high rates of COVID-19 activity, and NH Public Health case and contact management (contact tracing) teams continue to adjust the process for notifying, monitoring and clearing cases from self-isolation requirements.
