“When I walk into the Lodge, the clients’ faces light up! Knowing I’m going to make someone’s day brighter makes me very happy.”

It was a desire to learn more about the medical field that first drew Jessica to volunteer with Northern Health.

“I’ve never volunteered before outside of school, and this has been a wonderful experience,” said Jessica, who volunteers at Dunrovin Lodge in Quesnel. “I graduate this year, so I’m hoping to go to Thompson Rivers University in science and transition to the medical field, possibly nursing.”

One of her favourite memories is a client who wins at Snakes & Ladders every single time they play: “It’s so funny! I thought I was good, but she beats me every time and she loves it.”

Jessica has been a Northern Health social engagement volunteer for over six months, visiting clients at Dunrovin Lodge. Every hour that she volunteers makes an enormous difference in the lives of clients.

“Jessica is a wonderful volunteer and we could use more like her,” said staff who work with her.

Northern Health is grateful to all volunteers for their generosity and commitment.

Happy National Volunteer Week!
