Vanderhoof school wins Spirit of Healthy Kids grand prize

The first ever Spirit of Healthy Kids Regional Program challenge is complete! Six schools from across Northern BC competed in a health, wellness, and philanthropic challenge for the chance to win grant money for health projects.

The grand prize winner is W.L. McLeod Elementary School in Vanderhoof!

W.L McLeod Elementary (Vanderhoof) won:

  • A $5,000 Spirit of Healthy Kids grant from Northern Health for the McLeod Healthy Kids and Families school project.
  • Tickets to a Prince George Cougars game for all students and teachers. Students’ parents and families can purchase extra tickets at a reduced rate.

Five other participating schools won a $1,000 Spirit of Healthy Kids grant!

  • Harwin Elementary School (Prince George)
  • Valemount Elementary School (Valemount)
  • Don Titus Montessori Elementary School (Chetwynd)
  • Margaret Ma Murray Community School (Fort St. John)
  • Uplands Elementary School (Terrace)
