Comments
To date, there have been no facility-based outbreaks in the Northern Health region.
For any confirmed case, close contacts would be informed by Public Health and supported in any actions they should take. Northern Health will confirm if/when there is a facility-based outbreak, and release the appropriate details – as other health authorities around the province have done.
We have a rigorous public health protocol in terms of contact tracing, testing, and monitoring in facilities for potential outbreak concerns and we have strict and well proven infection control practices in our long-term care home that follow provincial guidelines, which we adhere to, when an outbreak is suspected and declared.
Individuals with confirmed cases are able to disclose that themselves, or consent to having other organizations (their employers, other third parties) share that information on their behalf. Health authorities, however, are bound by strict privacy measures and legislation to protect that information.
