Stockings for Seniors

Stockings hung on a line.

Stockings for Seniors is a program that aims to make the holiday season a little brighter for seniors in Prince George.

The program lets seniors from Gateway Complex Care, Rainbow Lodge, Jubilee Lodge, and Parkside Care provide a wish list, with the items going on tags that are hung on a Christmas tree at London Drugs. Community members can visit the store, grab a tag, buy the items on the wish list, and return them to London Drugs before December 8 for delivery to the seniors by Christmas morning. The gifts do not need to be purchased at London Drugs – as long as the gift is new and unwrapped, London Drugs will accept it! The gifts will then be delivered directly to the facility.

NH is very excited to have these four long-term care sites in Prince George chosen by London Drugs to participate in this initiative. The local recreation therapy program coordinators have been very busy little elves, connecting with residents and staff over the last few weeks to help residents with their wish lists.

The wish lists submitted are pretty unique and special! If any staff or community members would like to support the program, feel free to drop by London Drugs and take a look at the tree. Please note, to protect confidentiality, only the first name and the wish list items are on the tag.

Thanks for making this holiday season special for our seniors in long-term care!
