Many Northerners – including NH staff – are staying close to home this summer! Check out these staff staycation ideas for exploring local spots in our beautiful backyard!

Discovering local hiking spots in Smithers

Lillian Parsons, the Northwest the area’s implementation lead in Smithers, was able to discover a local hiking gem in the Northwest.

“I’m still riding high from a beautiful and hot hike in Smithers,” says Lillian. “I did Glacier Gulch (pictured above) – a Smithers classic, which despite having lived here for a couple years, I have never done!”

Staying close to home in Prince George

Anne Scott, the regional manager of Corporate and Program Communications, discovered her green thumb during a staycation at home in Prince George.

“I’m a total newbie gardener,” says Anne, “but during my staycation in Puerto Backyarda, (well, Frontyarda, actually), I took on the challenge of creating a new perennial bed. Many YouTube videos later, the bed was finished! Gardening is a great staycation activity because it gets you outside and keeps you active. Moving 40 wheelbarrows of soil for the 18-foot bed was a workout in its own right!”
