To promote physical literacy during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chetwynd Public Library, Northern Health, Chetwynd & District Rec. Centre, Peace Christian School, Saulteau First Nations, West Moberly First Nations, and Tansi Friendship Centre came together to brainstorm ideas.

The partnership resulted in the creation of Chetwynd's first virtual run!

Chetwynd’s first virtual run

The virtual run encourages participants to complete a 60-minute run, scheduled at their own convenience between August 4 and August9, 2020. Each person's run will be unique to their fitness level and aim to achieve a distance goal within the 60 minuntes. For their efforts, participants will be rewarded with a swag bag, including a 3D-printed medal and local gifts!

Community partners come together

Each community partner has helped promote health and wellness for local residents on social media (check out the video below!). The goal? To get Chetwynd community members to discover physical health and to actively participate in the virtual run!

Check out the kick-off event August 4

Northern Health champions Sara Hoehn and Charla Brazeau will be hosting a kick-off event on the morning of August 4, 2020. The kick-off will consist of a virtual warm-up to the 60-minute run and will be posted to social media. Participants are welcome to join the kick-off event in person (following physical distancing recommendations).

We look forward to running with you virtually!

Not in Chetwynd?

If you live somewhere other than Chetwynd, you can still check out the videos and work towards a 60-minute run in your own community! And, let us know how you’re staying active this summer!
