Northern Health releases report: Growing Up Healthy in Northern BC

The health and well-being of youth and children in Northern BC is the focus of the Northern Health Board report released today. Feeling loved – safe - valued - worthy, having the necessities of life, access to nature and free play, participation in organized activities, and becoming independent were all important characteristics noted during the 2016 consultation series focused on growing up healthy.

Dawson Creek and District Hospital celebrates improved access to breast cancer screening

Northern Health and the BC Cancer Agency are pleased to announce improved access to better mammography screening in Northeast BC, with the installation of a new digital mammography machine at Dawson Creek & District Hospital.

Funding of $1,042,316 for the upgrade to digital mammography, which includes upgraded IT equipment and renovations to support the new unit, was provided by the Province of BC.

First baby of 2017 born in Terrace

Northern Health is pleased to announce that the first baby born in Terrace in 2017 is a girl…. and she wasn’t alone!

Baby Freya was born at Mills Memorial Hospital on January 1 at 4:58 p.m., weighing in at six pounds, nine ounces. She was followed very shortly afterward by her twin sister, Hannah – born at 5:00 p.m., weighing six pounds, 2.5 ounces.

Proud parents Kirsten and Aaron Fehr of Terrace are joined by big sisters Kayla and Brooklynn in welcoming Freya and Hannah to their family.

First baby of 2017 born in Quesnel

Northern Health is pleased to announce that the first baby born in Quesnel in 2017 is a girl!

Ava Bethany Boyd was born at GR Baker Memorial Hospital on January 1 at 11:40 p.m. local time, to Michelle and Jonathan Boyd of Quesnel - weighing in at eight pounds, three ounces.

Ava is little sister to seven big brothers and sisters.

The first baby born in the Northern Health region was delivered at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. in Prince George, at 1:55 a.m. January 1, 2017.

First baby of 2017 born in Dawson Creek

Northern Health is pleased to announce that the first baby born in Dawson Creek in 2017 is a girl!

Jianne Grace Jibin was born at Dawson Creek & District Hospital on January 1 at 4:00 p.m. local time to mom Anumol Aloysius and dad Jibin Chako of Dawson Creek – weighing in a nine pounds, four ounces (4200 grams).

Jianne is the first child for the couple.

The first baby born in the Northern Health region was delivered at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. in Prince George, at 1:55 a.m. January 1, 2017.
