Northern Health warns that as smoke concentrations vary widely in the regions, they remain concentrated in some areas and everyone should take precautions to avoid unnecessary exposure and adverse health effects.
Northern Health’s Connections program will run on the annual modified summer schedule during the month of August. The modified schedule affects service from August 08 to 31, and the program will not run on the regular routes during that period. The table below indicates the last run before the summer break and the first day back in service for each route

Acute care, residential care and assisted living clients evacuated from Williams Lake have been settled into a variety of care settings in Prince George, and Northern Health is also working with the City of Prince George and other community partners to support the health needs of evacuees in general. UPDATE - Northern Health facilities receiving Williams Lake evacueesNorthern Health continues to support BC wildfire evacuations in the Interior Health region. GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel and the University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George have received evacuated patients from Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake. As well, more than 100 evacuated residential care and assisted living clients from Williams Lake are being received at various Prince George care facilities. Northern Health supporting Cariboo region wildfire evacuationsNorthern Health facilities in the Northern Interior are supporting BC wildfire evacuations in the Interior Health region. Northern Health is working closely with Interior Health to bring patients evacuated from facilities in Williams Lake to Northern Health facilities, primarily in Quesnel and Prince George. Northern Health is also closely monitoring the wildfire situation across the region, and encourages residents to do the same through local and provincial agencies, such as Regional District Emergency Operations Centres, Emergency Info BC, and local media outlets. The new MRI at UHNBC (pictured above) replaces the facility’s 14-year old unit, with significantly upgraded technology. Two more MRI installation projects are underway at other NH facilities: Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace, and Fort St. John Hospital & Health Centre. These new MRI units, tripling the number of MRI’s in the Northern Health region, go into service this summer and fall. Prenatal education text messaging service, SmartMom, launching throughout Northern B.C.Northern Health is pleased to announce that SmartMom, Canada’s first prenatal education program delivered by text messaging, has launched throughout the Northern B.C. region. SmartMom, which is free of charge to women and their families, texts evidence-based messages to guide women through each week of their pregnancy, ensuring that women receive the right information and resources at the right time. |
