My name is Vera Madden, I received my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at 24 weeks pregnant and then my second dose at 31 weeks pregnant.
I decided to get vaccinated after a discussion with my prenatal doctor about how it would be safe for my baby if I got the vaccine. Knowing that some of the antibodies from me getting the vaccine would be passed on to my baby was very reassuring for both of our safety during these uncertain times.
I was working in dentistry and was working in and out of the hospital on a regular basis. Working in the environment that I was and having asthma, I was concerned that if I did end up getting COVID-19, that recovery from that could be very difficult.
I had a very healthy baby girl eight weeks after my second dose. Knowing that she has some protection from the virus at this time is very reassuring to me and my family.
