Dr. Tracy Morton.

Dr. Tracy Morton is one of three rural doctors to win the 2020 BC Rural Health Award of Excellence in Rural Medicine: Lifetime Achievement.

Dr. Morton grew up in a small town in Alberta, and moved to an even smaller town in rural BC, Queen Charlotte. He’s been working on Haida Gwaii since 2000, finding a great community and stimulating remote medicine while working with an inspiring team and committed colleagues. Dr. Morton believes that health care in a rural environment can be as good as anywhere in Canada. His professional interests include specializations in general practitioner (GP) oncologist, novel uses of point-of-care ultrasound, text-messaging (and other technologies) in primary care, and emergency medicine.

He models healthy work-life balance through biking, meditation and yoga, travel, and cultivating healthy relationships. He’s married to Kiki and has two boys, Lief and Sol, who teach him humility and wonder every day. He was adopted into the Naa 'Yuuwans clan in 2008. He lives on a small island and mostly appreciates the canoe commute to work. You can see more about Dr. Morton’s canoe commute to work and more in our video!

Congratulations, Dr. Morton!
