Melinda has been a social worker for more than 25 years and has spent her career working with and for older adults. Her skills and specialization have become more focused over time, starting in the area of dementia care at home and in facilities; then investigation, training and assessments in response to elder abuse; while supporting patients, families and health care providers to understand various aspects of health care law and advance care planning tools; and consulting and advising on how to navigate the complex work of assessments of incapability. Most recently, Melinda has taken on the role as Northern Health’s Care Coordinator for MAiD (medical assistance in dying). Originally from southwest Ontario, Melinda moved to Prince George in 2006. In her spare time, she is working towards her Master Gardener certification so she can learn how to be skilled gardener in our Northern BC climate.
