Quesnel hosted its first drive-thru clinic (and the first drive-thru clinic in the North) on Wednesday, June 10 with a very successful launch. The team surpassed their expectations and provided 95 vaccinations to community members on their first day, many of whom were in a younger demographic.
Christine McCann, Care Process Coach, shares the experience and how community members felt about the process:
“The feedback from the public was a resoundingly positive one – many commented on what a great idea this was, how accessible and easy it was to attend (even with multiple people in the vehicle), and our wait times were relatively low, with staff stepping up to the plate to continue to deliver excellent quality care (as usual). Staff were excited and happy to be able to provide services through an “out-of-the-box” method and enjoyed the change of scenery.”
Meg Doyle, Registered Nurse, shares her experience as an immunizer in the clinic:
“I would like to say as an immunizer it was so much fun and absolutely amazing to see everything come together and the community to come out and get immunized! It’s so much fun to step out of the "box" and try something new! Let’s have fun out there everyone! Remember to stay positive and test negative!! 95 immunizations - WOW!!!!!”
Robin Barker, Primary Care Clinic Coordinator also shares the positive experience from both Northern Health staff and members of the public:
“People were very thrilled to receive their vaccination so conveniently and most were grinning and waving as they drove away. It was also gratifying to see the numbers of young adults and youth as young as 12 that came through. Job well done, everyone!”
