In Episode 6 of Qualitycast North, Dr. Shyr Chui interviews Dr. Denise McLeod. In this episode, Dr. McLeod talks about her work with patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) – the fourth leading cause of death in Canada.

Dr. McLeod started group medical visits with the goal of improving patients’ ability to self-manage, thus hopefully avoiding emergency room visits. This innovation not only improved things for her patients, but also inspired other physicians to adopt COPD group medical visits in their communities.

Dr. McLeod has always had a passion for caring for others: before pursuing her dream career as a family physician, she worked for 12 years as a nurse. In her current practice, she cares for patients across life’s spectrum, from newborns to palliative care.
