True Northerners know it’ll take more than biting weather to keep us inside for a whole weekend. If it’s within the range of -20C to 0 – well, that’s just no problem whatsoever. So when a balmy -2C welcomed Downtown Winterfest on Sunday, February 9 in Prince George, the city turned up big time!

Even with the hearty conditioning of our citizens, being out in the minuses for too long can give anyone a bit of a chill, so Northern Health (NH) and Northern Health Connections (NHC) teamed up and were happy to provide a warm up station in the form of an NHC bus!

We doled out some major swag – hand sanitizer, fit decks, water bottles, stress ball NHC busses and even some stuffies for the kids! We were pleased to hear and answer questions about NH Connections routes and eligibility and, of course, hand out some NH health resources too!

Prince George has hosted Downtown Winterfest for the past four years, and it’s a great chance for the whole city to get outside and celebrate the season and support local businesses. This year’s activities included street hockey, outdoor curling, a mini train, tonnes of food trucks and a HUGE snow wall equipped with a sliding hill for those feeling adventurous. It was really nice to see the community come out and have some fun together.

Thanks for having us Downtown Winterfest!
