On behalf of Northern Health, during Nursing Week 2023, we recognize and acknowledge the critical importance of the profession of nursing and the practice of nursing. This year, the theme for National Nursing Week is Our Nurses. Our Future. The care and services nurses provide every day is essential to the people, families, and communities Northern Health serves across the region.

The past three to four years have been challenging for the health care system overall, particularly in Northern BC and nurses in all areas of practice have been significantly impacted. As we work through the workplace challenges, we are grateful that you have chosen to practice the profession of nursing in Northern BC and for all you do to support your colleagues, students, and newly hired staff as well as those people you serve.

Over the course of this week, we hope you can take a few moments to recognize the difference you make to the people of the North. Thank you for choosing to be a nurse and for the sacrifices and contributions you make to improve the health and well-being of people across the North.

Cathy Ulrich, President & CEO
