Expanded hours at the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre will continue into the spring, as the Health Centre becomes the central location for mental health and primary care supports, including those previously being provided at other locations in the community.
Effective Wednesday, February 25, Northern Health Specialized Community Services (mental health supports) and the BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) mental health clinician team will relocate from the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre to the Health Centre.
This change brings services for people together under one roof and supports residents’ continued daily access to:
- Drop-in appointments with mental health clinicians, and
- Primary and urgent care provided by on-site nurse practitioners with physician support.
These services are available 7 am to 11 pm, seven days a week (including statutory holidays). The service extension is currently planned for a minimum of three months and may be extended.
Child and Adolescent Mental Health clinicians and psychiatrists from BC Children’s Hospital are also located at the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre, providing in-person support for children and youth mental health needs. Residents can call or text 604-315-2249 between the hours of 11 am and 7 pm, Monday to Friday, to connect with BCCH staff who can answer in-the-moment questions, help find resources and information, or book in-person appointments.
Anyone requiring urgent help is asked to go directly to the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre.
The hours for NH Connections travel support in the Tumbler Ridge area have also been updated. Beginning Tuesday, February 24, 2026, the shuttle service will transition to a free, once-daily service to better support patients, families, support persons, and staff traveling between communities. More information on the daily schedule is available on the NH Connections site.
Services at the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre continue to be supported by nursing and Allied Health professionals from across BC. Northern Health is grateful for the ongoing support of other health authorities, partner agencies, and individual health care professionals across the province. Their collaboration has been essential to maintaining expanded hours and access to care in the community.
