Tumbler Ridge Health Centre – expanded hours and services through March 6

Northern Health
Information Bulletin

The Tumbler Ridge Health Centre’s hours are being temporarily extended to ensure the community has access to care and support following this week’s tragic events.

Today (February 13) through March 6, 2026, the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre will be open from 7 am to 11 pm seven days per week (including statutory holidays). Each day, drop-in appointments with mental health clinicians will continue to be available for anyone seeking support, and nurse practitioners with physician supports will be available during these extended hours for primary and urgent care needs. The health centre’s laboratory and X-ray department will also operate 7 am to 11 pm providing diagnostic support.

The hours for Emergency Department services remain from 9 am to 5 pm weekdays, and residents should continue to call 9-1-1 to access emergency health care and transport to the most appropriate facility for their needs.

We will continue to assess the ongoing needs of the community over the coming weeks, and continue to provide updates on plans for health centre services and hours.

We have implemented NH Connections travel support in the Tumbler Ridge area, with a free shuttle traveling between Tumbler Ridge and Fort St. John (via Dawson Creek and Chetwynd) for anyone needing support traveling between those communities in the coming weeks. The shuttle is both for public use and for health care staff moving between communities as needed. For more information on the daily schedule, please visit the NH Connections site.

Additional staff have been deployed to the community to ensure coverage for Health Centre services and that local staff have the support and rest they may need. The expansion of hours would not be possible without the incredible outpouring of support and offers of assistance from other health authorities, partner agencies and individual health care professionals across the province. For this, we are grateful.

A range of mental health and psychosocial supports have also been made available through Northern Health, other BC health authorities, and partner organizations. In addition to more Northern Health mental health clinicians being deployed to the community, the local school district, the Ministry of Children and Family Development, and the Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA) have mobilized additional supports to travel to and support Tumbler Ridge.

If you are struggling, please know that support is available. Mental health supports and resources are also available through a variety of options:
