Overdose prevention, harm reduction services expanded hours in Prince George

Northern Health
Information Bulletin

Northern Health’s downtown Prince George Harm Reduction Clinic is implementing expanded hours of operation in response to continued high rates of toxic drug poisoning in the community and to improve the accessibility of services.

The HIV/AIDS Prevention Program (needle exchange) in Prince George has been piloting expanded hours for Overdose Prevention Services (OPS) for the past two weeks, ensuring staffing resources are in place for expanded operation of OPS and other services. Effective June 26, the new hours are formally in place on a long-term basis.

OPS services are now available from 9 am to 11:30 am, and from 1:15 pm to 6:30 pm Monday through Saturday. Nursing services are also available by appointment from 9 am to 11:30 am, with open clinic hours from 1:15 pm to 6:30 pm. In addition, Mobile Harm Reduction Supplies (the Wellness Truck) will operate from 7 pm to 11:30 pm, six days per week (Monday to Saturday).

Northern Health continues to work in partnership with and engage community leaders, community organizations, peers, and other agencies to deliver overdose prevention and harm reduction services in Prince George. We recognize and support the work of both peer-run and community services that complement those offered by NH.
