NH Connections expanding service in the Northeast

Northern Health
News Release

Northern Health is expanding the NH Connections healthcare service to benefit patients in northeast B.C. Starting April 4th, NH Connections service will increase from three, to five days a week service, Monday to Friday.

”Increasing access to services that people need is important,” said Peace River South MLA Mike Bernier. “I am happy to see this program expanding to further improve service to Peace region residents.”

NH Connections is now accepting reservations for the expanded schedule, which adds same-day trips on Tuesdays and Thursdays between Dawson Creek and Fort St. John. The trips will depart Dawson Creek at 7 am, arriving in Fort St. John at 8 am with a stop in Taylor. Return trips to Dawson Creek will depart Fort St. John at 4 pm.

“Northeast BC residents have told us that travel can be a barrier to accessing health care services," said Angela De Smit, Northeast chief operating officer for Northern Health. "We are pleased to be able to provide additional service to allow them to meet their healthcare needs.”

The NH Connections service has experienced a steady increase in ridership since it was introduced, demonstrating that northern B.C. residents see value in its existence.

Further information about the travel service, including schedules and rates, is available on the Northern Health Connections website. This website also contains information about travel alternatives for Northern B.C. residents who can’t access the Connections healthcare travel service.
