More people may be planning to visit loved ones in care over the holiday season. In order to protect the health of our patients, residents, and staff, here is a reminder of the current policies in place for visitors to our NH facilities. All policies are aligned with current Ministry of Health policies and the Order of the Provincial Health Officer. We also ask you to please stay home if you are sick.
What are the visitor requirements in long-term care and assisted living (LTC/AL)?
Visitors must be screened for signs and symptoms of illness prior to every visit and are required to wear a medical mask in hallways, common areas, and multiple occupancy rooms (long term care). All long-term care visitors who are 12 years of age and older must also complete a rapid antigen test.
Visitors to long-term care need to show proof that they are fully vaccinated with two doses of COVID-19 vaccine (excluding children under the age of 12 or those with an approved medical exemption and compassionate visits related to end of life).
For more information please see visitors in long-term care and seniors' assisted living.
What are the visitor requirements in Acute Care?
Visitors must be screened for signs and symptoms of illness prior to every visit and are required to always wear a medical mask.
Acute care visitors are expected to be fully vaccinated with two doses of COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine requirement does not apply to young children under the age of vaccine eligibility, those with an approved medical exemption, and in some specific care settings.
For more information please see visitors in acute care.
