COVID-19 – Rotary Manor, Dawson Creek - Update #2

Northern Health
Information Bulletin

Northern Health is pleased to advise that COVID-19 outbreak protocols are being lifted for all but one unit at Rotary Manor in Dawson Creek, as the exposure risk has passed for the majority of the facility.

To date, there have been a total of nine confirmed resident cases of COVID-19, and four staff cases. Sadly, two residents passed away since the outbreak was declared November 2nd, 2020.

Since November 2nd, a number of enhanced control measures have been in place throughout Rotary Manor, including cleaning and infection controls, visiting restrictions and staff and resident screening.

While these outbreak measures remain in place for Rotary Manor’s Special Care Unit at this time, the outbreak can be declared over for the rest of the facility now that two 14-day COVID-19 incubation periods have passed without any exposures to a laboratory-confirmed case. This means that pre-arranged social visits can also resume for residents and families for most of the facility, as they were before the outbreak was declared.

Public health officials will continue to monitoring the Special Care Unit until the exposure risk period has passed for that area as well.
