COVID-19 – Prince Rupert facility COVID-19 outbreaks - Update

Northern Health
Information Bulletin

Northern Health continues to closely monitor two declared outbreaks of COVID-19 at health care facilities in Prince Rupert.

Enhanced outbreak control measures remain in place at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, on the Patient Care Unit. To date, there have been three lab-confirmed cases among patients, and one staff case, in association with the outbreak declared by Medical Health Officers on March 28, 2021.

Outbreak measures are also in place at Acropolis Manor, following the April 3, 2021 declaration of an outbreak on the West Pod of the long-term care facility. To date, five residents at Acropolis have tested positive for COVID-19, in association with this outbreak.

Monitoring and testing continues at both facilities, in order to identify any additional cases. Public health officials will only declare either outbreak over when they are confident that chains of transmission have been stopped.
