Northern Health Public Health continues to monitor a COVID-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada Project Site in Kitimat, BC, among staff of Diversified Transportation working at the project site.
As of December 22, 2020, 16 employees have tested positive for COVID-19 in association with this outbreak (an increase of one, since the outbreak was declared December 17, 2020). Nine of the cases are considered active (down from 13). Those identified as cases and close contacts have been instructed to self-isolate; seven individuals are self-isolating at the project site, and two are in their home communities.
Northern Health Public Health, LNG Canada, and Diversified Transportation are encouraged that no new cases have been identified in recent days; enhanced control measures continue at the project site, including on-site screening of employees, to protect the health of all staff.
There have also been no new cases associated with a previously declared, but unrelated, COVID-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada Project Site in Kitimat, where JGC Fluor (JFJV) is the prime contractor. The last case associated with that outbreak was reported on December 2, 2020.
