COVID-19 Outbreak declared over at University Hospital of Northern BC – Rehab Unit

Northern Health Medical Health Officers have declared an end to a COVID-19 outbreak on the Rehabilitation Unit at the University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) in Prince George.

In total, three patient cases were associated with the Rehab outbreak, and there have been no new cases since January 9, 2021.

Monitoring and testing continues on a second outbreak on the Internal Medicine Unit at UHNBC, originally declared December 29, 2020. To date, 21 patients and 12 staff have tested positive for COVID-19, and there have been eight deaths associated with this outbreak.

Public Health officials also continue to actively monitor the outbreak at Jubilee Lodge long-term care, adjacent to UHNBC. To date, 48 residents and 14 staff at Jubilee Lodge have tested positive for COVID-19, and 14 residents have died since the outbreak was declared on December 12, 2020. Northern Health and Jubilee Lodge are encouraged that there have been no new resident cases since late December, and no new staff cases since January 13, 2021.

Northern Health Public Health continues to actively monitor and follow up all laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 among staff and patients at any NH facilities.
