COVID-19 outbreak declared over – Quesnel reforestation operations (closure orders rescinded)

Northern Health
Information Bulletin

Northern Health Medical Health Officers have declared an end to a COVID-19 outbreak involving the operations of two Quesnel-based reforestation companies, originally declared May 20, 2021.

In total, ten lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 were associated with the outbreak at Dewan Enterprise LTD, and MIKEGROSITE Consulting LTD, operations in the Northern Health region. Sadly, one individual who had tested positive in association with the outbreak passed away from their illness.

NH Medical Health Officers have also lifted the Workplace Closure Orders issued May 10, 2021 for both companies. Both employers have met the requirements for reopening, including providing an action plan to bring them into compliance with a COVID-19 safety plan, ensuring there are adequate infection control measures implemented, and a plan for supporting workers who are sick, or need to self-isolate.

NH Public Health, in collaboration with WorkSafeBC, continues to work with both companies to ensure adequate COVID-19 safety plans and control measures are in place, to protect the health of workers, and the communities in which they operate.
