Ongoing monitoring and testing has identified new cases of COVID-19 associated with a managed cluster of cases among Trans Mountain employees and contractors in the Valemount area.
As of August 27, 33 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in association with the cluster, and five of the cases are considered active at this time.
The public health investigation has determined the majority of cluster-related infections were not acquired at the site, and there is low risk of ongoing transmission of COVID-19 on site.
Northern Health and Trans Mountain are continuing to monitor for any new lab-confirmed cases among workers, and keeping communicable disease management measures in place such as employee screening, mandatory mask-wearing, and COVID-19 immunization of the workforce.
This will be the final formal update on case counts associated with the cluster.
