Northern Health, the First Nations Health Authority and the Government of Yukon are pleased to announce the first COVID-19 immunization clinics in Atlin, BC are scheduled for the January 27th and January 28th, 2021, thanks to the generous support of the territorial and provincial governments.

Atlin is one of a number of communities in BC’s far north for which the logistics of COVID-19 immunizations require careful planning and coordination, due to the community’s remote location and the handling requirements for the vaccine supply, among other factors.

Northern Health and Yukon officials have been coordinating closely to ensure access to COVID-19 vaccine in Atlin (and other BC/Yukon border communities) for those most at risk, in alignment with the priority groups identified by both Yukon and BC’s COVID-19 immunization strategies.

This partnership will see 200 doses of Moderna vaccine shipped from Whitehorse to Atlin this week, so that elders, seniors, health care workers and the medically vulnerable, can receive the first doses beginning Wednesday, January 27th, 2021.

Eligible Atlin residents in these groups will be contacted directly and offered an appointment. Eligible residents without a phone can contact the Atlin Health Center or the Taku River Tlingit First Nation health team directly beginning on Monday, January 25, 2021.

More information on the vaccine can be found on the Government of Yukon’s website, Government of BC website and the First Nations Health Authority website.
