Northern Health is pleased to announce that the first baby born in Dawson Creek in 2017 is a girl!

Jianne Grace Jibin was born at Dawson Creek & District Hospital on January 1 at 4:00 p.m. local time to mom Anumol Aloysius and dad Jibin Chako of Dawson Creek – weighing in a nine pounds, four ounces (4200 grams).

Jianne is the first child for the couple.

The first baby born in the Northern Health region was delivered at the University Hospital of Northern B.C. in Prince George, at 1:55 a.m. January 1, 2017. 

Northern Health is pleased to announce that the first baby born in Vanderhoof in 2017 is a boy!

Baby boy Weber was born at St. John Hospital on January 1 at 7:23 p.m. local time to Kayla and Jordaine Weber of Fraser Lake – weighing in at six pounds, 15 ounces (3150 grams).

He is also welcomed by big sister Emma.

Northern Health is pleased to announce that the first baby born in Smithers in 2017 is a boy!

William Norman Anthony Maier was born at Bulkley Valley District Hospital on January 1 at 7:15 a.m. local time to mom Genevieve Michiel and Dad Kris Maier of Smithers - weighing in at seven pounds, 13 ounces.

William is the first child for the couple.

Baby Dallin was born at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital on January 1 at 11:06 a.m. local time, to mom Shayne Ward and dad Tyler Morrison of Prince Rupert - weighing in at seven pounds, 11 ounces (3500 grams).

Dallin is also welcomed by big sister Aaliyah.

Northern Health is pleased to announce that the first baby born in Northern BC in 2017 is a girl.

Alma Elvira Baerg was born at the University Hospital of Northern BC (UHNBC) in Prince George on January 1 at 1:55 a.m. local time to mom Stephanie and dad Joel weighing in at 10 lbs, 8 oz (4750 grams).

Alma arrived quickly and safely via water birth with midwife Karin Gerlach.

Alma was also welcomed by big brother Atticus, age 4 and sister Evelyn, age 2. The Baerg family lives in China, studying language, and came back to Canada to visit family and for Alma's birth.
